Book design, illustration and written content
The book of visual perception. Written, designed and illustrated by Mark Ferguson, this book explores visual perception and illusion from a new perspective and looks at how these themes have been embraced within the fields of art, design and popular culture. The book aims to reach out to new audiences. It is made up of a mixture of original work and historical examples which are divided into five sections: figure ground relationships, patterns, colour, perspective and assisted viewing.
The design of Envision features a strong but flexible grid system, clear visual hierarchy, large eye catching images, and bold typography. To illustrate the topics, interactive elements such as pull out sections, lenticular images and 3D glasses are included. The book is presented in a special edition box, containing 10 posters and a slip case that animates when removed.
